Google+ and Facebook

CBC radio asked its listeners today if they were on Google+. It said it too was on Google+ but that it didn't know what to do with it. It asked listeners who knew what to do with it to let it know via a posting to its Facebook site.

Military Precision

A recent BBC article about the prohibition of beards in the US military mentions the regulations in police departments too, including this one from the LAPD: "Moustaches shall not extend below the vermillion of the upper lip or below the corners of the mouth and may not extend to the side more than one half inch beyond the corners of the mouth."

Who would have thought?

A massive six-engine fire is still blazing in Ottawa at a Home Depot store. Asked about the cause, an employee said "We don't know really. We were putting a large load of self-starting fire logs in the basement storage area, when..." (TV report on CBC. See also http://bit.ly/eFk7gz)

Pay off your balance

So BMO informed me today that if I made only the minimum payment on my Mastercard every month (and presumably made no more purchases) it would take me 40 years and 11 months to pay the full balance off. Incredible! Of course, this probably has something to do with the way compound interest works and the 18.5% they charge. And we didn't even spend much last month!
